Irani Pola( Chicken Pola)

Pola is common snack during ramadan, especially in the Malabar region.Pola is a type of cake and very easy to prepare.There are different types of polas like carrot pola,beef pola,vella pola ,kai(banana pola) etc .Today i am going to show you the recipe of Iranipola also known as chicken pola.It is originated from Iran. It is a savory cake filled with spiced can be prepared on stove top or in the oven.Here i'm made without oven.


For Marination:-

Boneless Chicken               -200 gm
Ginger garlic paste             -1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder                 -1/4 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder        -11/2tsp
Lemon juice                          -1 tsp
Oil for frying

For Filling:-

Onion(chopped)                       -2Nos
Ginger garlic paste                  -1tsp
Green chilli (chopped)             -2Nos
Curry leaves (chopped)
Turmeric powder                        -1/4 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder               -1/2 tsp
Garam masala                            -3/4 tsp
Corriander leaves (chopped)
Salt to taste

For Batter:-

All purpose flour           -1 cup
Eggs                               -2
Milk                                -1 cup
Oil                                   -3/4 cup
Pepper powder             -1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
 Capsicum ,corriander leaves for garnishing

1. Marinate chicken with Ginger garlic paste ,Turmeric powder ,Kashmiri chilli powder,Lemon juice and keep aside for 1/2 hour.

2. Heat oil in a pan then fry marinated chicken pieces.Then shred the chicken and keep aside.

3. In the same oil add chopped onion ,ginger garlic paste,chopped green chillies,curry leaves (chopped) saute well till the onion become soft.Then add turmeric powder,kashmiri chilli powder,garam masala and saute well.finally add the shreddes chicken and corrinader leaves ,mix well.Flame off.

4. Next step is making batter,In a mixi jar add all purpose flour, eggs,milk,oil, pepper powder,salt then blend well.Check the consistency.

5. Heat a saucepan on low flame and  brush the oil all over the pan.

6. Pour half off the batter spread on the sides.cover with lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.

7. Then sprinkle chicken filling on top of it.Then pour  rest of the batter over it.Then garnish with sliced capsicum, shredded chicken, chopped coriander leaves.Then cover the pan with lid and cook for 20 minutes on low flame.

Easy chicken pola or Irani Pola is ready.Cut into pieces.Serve warm .
