Steamed Plantain Cake |Kaipola

Today's recipe is a flourless banana cake. Steamed plantain cake is one of

the popular Malabar dishes. Kaipola is the authentic Malabar dish. You can find different sweets in Kerala, especially in the Malabar areas. Kaipola is one of them. This dessert can be made quickly when the guest is coming to our house.

It is used as both breakfast and snack in the evening. It is also called Kaipola. 'Kai' means plantain in Malayalam, and 'Pola' means cake.

 

It is very easy and quick to prepare with few ingredients. There is no need to add flour or baking soda baking powder to this banana cake. This cake is easily prepared without much effort. It is an egg cake filled with ripe plantains. Also, it is served during Ramadan. This is a snack that can be made quickly at Iftar parties.

It is rich in flavour and taste. To make this recipe, you need ripe plantains. If you get ripe plantains, there is no need to add sugar.

 

 

How to cook banana:-

 

Kaipola can be prepared for breakfast as well as for an evening snack. Banana can be cooked in two ways. Fry small pieces of banana in oil until they turn golden in colour. Be careful not to get burned. Then add in the egg mixture and mix well.

Another way is to saute banana pieces in ghee until they turn golden in colour.

 

I made this recipe by sauteing banana in the ghee, But it tastes better when fried in oil. 


How to give flavour to egg mix:-


There are 2 ways to add flavor to an egg mix.  Let's add cardamom Powder.  If you like the flavor of vanilla essence you can add it too.

in this recipe i added cardamom powder to egg mix.I love flavour of cardamom powder than vanilla essence.




This recipe prepared by using banana Nenthran. it contain lots of nutrients and good for health.it is rich in fiber and rich in antioxidants.

 


Ingredients:
  1. Ripe banana   - 4 
  2. Eggs                - 4
  3. Sugar              - 6 tbsp
  4. Cardamom     - 5 or 6 Nos
  5. Cashew nuts  - few
  6. Ghee                - 4 tbsp
For garnish,you can use rasins which are roasted in ghee.

Preparation:

  • Peel the bananas
  • Chop into small pieces.
  • Heat a pan and 
  • Add 2 tbsp of ghee, 
  • Then add Chopped bananas 
  • And saute well.
  • Saute plantains until turn golden in colour.
  • Take a mixer jar
  • And add 4 eggs,
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • Cardamom 
  • And grind well.
  
  • Pour this egg mixture into a bowl 
  • And add saute plantain.
  • Mix well
  • Cover and cook this batter in a sauce pan in low flame for 30 minutes.
  • When the banana cake is half baked decorate Kaipola with roasted Raisins & Cashews .


  • Cut into pieces

 Tips:-

  • You can put another sauce pan on the bottom of the baking pan to keep the Kaipola from  burning and all the parts to cook evenly.
  • If you want a healthy snack, you can avoid adding sugar to egg mix.
  • grease the pan before adding batter to avoid sticking the bottom of  pan.
