Chicken Pakora

Chicken pakora also called chicken pakoda.Pakora is the South Indian Snack.Made with both Veg and non veg.Here the recipe with chicken.

 Chicken pakora is a crispy fried appetizer made from chicken, gram flour, and ginger-garlic. It also contains spice powders. It's a spicy, crispy traditional evening snack using boneless chicken and is easy to prepare.Chicken pakora is tender and juicy on the side and crispy in outside.Chicken pakora is a tasty street food in is very tasty and crispy.

Chicken pakora can be prepared in two ways.  Coating with flour, as well as coating with gram flour.  The flour I have used here is the gram flour.  chicken onion, chopped ginger ,chillies,ginger garlic paste and all spice powders are  marinated with chicken. I also l added riceflour.  Riceflour is added to give the pakora crispiness. And also use corn flour to make chicken pakora crisp.I used besan or gram flour. I love the flavour of besan.My mom also use besan. Then deep fry in hot oil .

Oil temperature  is a intresting factor.Heat oil in low to medium flame.Don't fry in high flame.If you fry on high flame, the chicken will not cook well enough.  And Pakora will burn.If you fry on high flame, the chicken will not cook well enough.  And Pakora will burn.

Batter consistency of chicken pakora:-

The consistency of chicken pakora batter must be thick.Dont add too much water to the gets runny batter.If you feel runny batter,then add some gramflour.The batter must be sticky.

Types of Pakoras:-

There are many varieties of pakoras.Veg and non veg pakoras.Usually pakora made with onion and also made with chicken prawns ,fish.The veg pakoras made with cabbage cauliflower,soyabean,chilli,spinach etc.which are coated with gram flour and rice flour.Pakoras is better for rainy season with a cup of hot chai.

Chicken pakora is the traditional snack in India.It is the usual menu in Indian Restaurants.Chicken pakora also available as Street food.Chicken pakora is good with evening tea.This crispy snack is very easy to make within few minutes with few ingredients.

Here is how to make a chicken pakora recipe step by step.

  1.   Chicken (boneless) - 1 cup
  2.   Ginger                     - 1 tsp
  3.   Onion                      - 1
  4.   Green chillies          - 2
  5.   Gram flour               - 1 cup
  6.   Rice flour                 -  1tbsp
  7.   Corriander leaves    -1 tbsp (chopped)
  8.   Curry leaves             -1 tbsp (chopped)
  9.   Lemon juice             -1 tsp
  10.   Salt to taste
  11.   Oil 

 Step 1.
  • In a mixing bowl add 1 cup chopped bonelss chicken .
  • Sliced onion, 
  • Two green chillies,
  • Chopped ginger,
  • Chopped corriander leaves 
  • And curry leaves,ginger garlic paste,salt,lemon juice.
  • Mix all these with hand.
Step 2.
  • Then add 1 cup gram flour 
  • 1 tbsp rice flour 
  • And mix it.
  • If needed springle little water.

The marination process is done.Rest marinated chicken for 1 hour.

Step 3. 
  • In a pan,
  • Add oil for deep frying.make a small balls then ,
  • Fry them until get golden color.
Delicious crispy Chicken Pakora is ready.
This is a simple snack.  It can be prepared at home with the ingredients that are always available.  Serve as a snack with tea at the evening party.
