Potato Masala or Aloo Masala for dosa and puri

Potato masala or Aloo masala is one of my favourite side dish for dosa.It is a delicious side dish and easy to prepare with few ingredients available in our pantry.Potato masala common in South India with dosa,poori,rice,chappathi etc.
Potato masala is the best combination with dosa.The main ingredient is the potatoes which boiled in a pressure cooker then mashed well.There are many types of side dishes available with dosa such as coconut chutney,Onion tomato chutney,sambar etc.


Ingredients:
Potatoes                  -3
Oil                             -2 tbsp
Mustard seeds       -1 tsp
Green chillies         -2 Nos
Ginger                     - 1 tsp
Onion                      -1
Curry leaves           -1 sprig
Turmeric powder   -1/4 tsp
Water                      -1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Preparation:
1. For preparing the potato masala ,i have
   taken 3 medium sized potatoes.wash the
   potatoes and cook in pressure cooker   
   by adding required water.
2. After that peel the skin from boiled
   potatoes then mash well and keep aside.
3. Then let's prepare masala.
    For preparing masala,heat a pan,then
    add 2 tbsp of oil.When the oil is hot
    enough add mustard seeds and splutter
    it.
4. Then add green chillies,finely chopped
    ginger then saute well.
5. Add chopped onion ,curry leaves and
    salt .saute well til become soft and
    translucent.
Then add 1/4  tsp turmeric powder.

 6. Add 1/2 cup water to become soft.
   

When water comes to boil add mashed potatoes and combine well.

Simple potato masala is ready.You can prepare this recipe with few minutes for your breakfast and dinner.
